Reggie Bush, an ex-player for the University of Southern California Trojans apologized this week to athletic director Pat Haden over his conduct over the last year. Haden was recently promoted to Athletic Director and has quite the case on his hands with the Reggie Bush fiasco, including NCAA investigations, infraction charges and restrictions placed on the football program itself.

In the 2004-2005 college football season, Reggie Bush was investigated for receiving financial benefits he should not have while at the University of Southern California. For example, the national championship and Heisman Trophy were both in his possession. He has been banned from the USC campus. This week, he publicly apologized to Haden and the football program.

Two Historic Race Tracks Open for 2010 Season This Week

Del Mar, California and Saratoga Springs, New York are known for offering the best action in horse racing.  They are also the two most historic race tracks in the USA and have the privilege of opening the new 2010 season.  Del Mar’s season starts on Wednesday, while Saratoga’s is on Friday.

The Del Mar racetrack opened in 1937 and had its first major race win in the race between Seabiscuit and Ligaroti, which was a ‘winner take all’ race.  NBC radio broadcast the race making it the very first national radio race broadcast in history.  The race gained a lot of publicity even though horse racing was less popular than baseball at the time.

It’s that time of year again as NFL teams start negations with their draft picks from the first round.  The goal is to get players into the training camps to start preparations for the 2010 NFL match-ups.  Dez Bryant is the first round draft pick for the Dallas Cowboys and negotiations between them started on Tuesday.

Bryant was made the number one selection for the Cowboys from the 14^th overall pick of the draft.  Bryant is known for being the best wide receiver in the Big 12 especially when he played with the Oklahoma State Cowboys.  His record is 19 touchdowns and 87 exceptions for 1,480 yards.  He has also run two punts for touchdowns.

The same day that he won the 2010 State Farm Home Run Derby, rumors began about David Ortiz’s contract began. While his primary concern for the moment is bringing the All Star Game trophy to the American League for the 2010 season, Ortiz is thinking about next season. Even before the Home Run Derby was over Ortiz began expressing his desire to remain in Boston for more than just one more season. He cited the complications and distractions from his job as one of the primary reasons for his decision.

During 2011 the Red Sox, managed by Theo Epstein,  will have the opportunity to provide Ortiz with a one-year extension, but this likely will not be enough for the All Star Player. Ortiz was very adamant about staying for more than just one more year, saying that he would prefer to be left alone to play baseball than to have to renegotiate next year. But, as confirmed by the Red Sox’s spokesman, discussions have not yet occurred between the team and Ortiz’s representative. People are speculating that the futures of Adrian Gonzalez of the San Diego Padres and Prince Fielder of the Milwaukee Brewers are playing a part in the Red Sox’s decision on Ortiz.

Following Spain’s stunning victory over the Netherlands at the 2010 World Cup, the country is considered as a favorite for the foreseeable future. BASKETBALL: 6ft 1 or taller – The height of 3- out of- 4 of the recent prep grads.

Early recruiting from the women’s UAA coach sees him specifically targeting junior-college transfers. Tim Moser has added 4 newly graduated high-school basketball player’s to help deliver the depth needed in play next season.

Three out of four of these new players are 6ft1 or taller!

Kansas City grad Kylie Burns joins the Seawolves bringing her 5ft9 advantage, whilst Morgan Lee, at 6ft2 (from Fontana, California) tops that. Then there are forwards Brittany Neeley from Colton, California, who measures 6ft1 and Caitlin Nelson, from Riverton, Utah who shares Lee’s height at 6ft2.

Moser has now recruited a total of 9 players for the 2010-2011 season.

According to the hype, the 2010 FIFA World Cup will be the most widely-watched sporting event the world has ever seen. The 64 matches will see more than 30 different countries battling it out – all of which can be seen in the three daily broadcasts and extensive internet coverage.
