It’s that time of year again as NFL teams start negations with their draft picks from the first round.  The goal is to get players into the training camps to start preparations for the 2010 NFL match-ups.  Dez Bryant is the first round draft pick for the Dallas Cowboys and negotiations between them started on Tuesday.

Bryant was made the number one selection for the Cowboys from the 14^th overall pick of the draft.  Bryant is known for being the best wide receiver in the Big 12 especially when he played with the Oklahoma State Cowboys.  His record is 19 touchdowns and 87 exceptions for 1,480 yards.  He has also run two punts for touchdowns.

The same day that he won the 2010 State Farm Home Run Derby, rumors began about David Ortiz’s contract began. While his primary concern for the moment is bringing the All Star Game trophy to the American League for the 2010 season, Ortiz is thinking about next season. Even before the Home Run Derby was over Ortiz began expressing his desire to remain in Boston for more than just one more season. He cited the complications and distractions from his job as one of the primary reasons for his decision.

During 2011 the Red Sox, managed by Theo Epstein,  will have the opportunity to provide Ortiz with a one-year extension, but this likely will not be enough for the All Star Player. Ortiz was very adamant about staying for more than just one more year, saying that he would prefer to be left alone to play baseball than to have to renegotiate next year. But, as confirmed by the Red Sox’s spokesman, discussions have not yet occurred between the team and Ortiz’s representative. People are speculating that the futures of Adrian Gonzalez of the San Diego Padres and Prince Fielder of the Milwaukee Brewers are playing a part in the Red Sox’s decision on Ortiz.

Following Spain’s stunning victory over the Netherlands at the 2010 World Cup, the country is considered as a favorite for the foreseeable future. Many online gambling websites list them as the most likely to win the UEFA European Football Championship in 2012. In 2008, Spain upset the games by beating Germany  in Vienna. With their frequent forays into the top tier of football, Germany can pull in some pretty good odds across the board.

Many countries have come to the recognization that online casinos are some what inevitable and are just another harmless pastime. BASKETBALL: 6ft 1 or taller – The height of 3- out of- 4 of the recent prep grads.

Early recruiting from the women’s UAA coach sees him specifically targeting junior-college transfers. Tim Moser has added 4 newly graduated high-school basketball player’s to help deliver the depth needed in play next season.

Three out of four of these new players are 6ft1 or taller!

Kansas City grad Kylie Burns joins the Seawolves bringing her 5ft9 advantage, whilst Morgan Lee, at 6ft2 (from Fontana, California) tops that. Then there are forwards Brittany Neeley from Colton, California, who measures 6ft1 and Caitlin Nelson, from Riverton, Utah who shares Lee’s height at 6ft2.

Moser has now recruited a total of 9 players for the 2010-2011 season.

Almost thirty years after Anchorages’ Perry Green finished second in the World Series Poker competition, the godfather of Poker takes another victorious cash price in the world renown tournament.

Mr. Green took a staggering $38,549 cash earning home this week when he finished a respectable 8th in a ‘Pot Limit Omaha Hi-Low Split 8 Or Better’ Las Vegas event. Entry for the prestigious event was a staggering $5,000 to play.

Back in the 1970’s Green enjoyed three wins in World Series events, he proudly took the WSOP bracelet as a reward for first place along with a cash prize which added to his total winnings, which total $569,359 through his career. Green’s most recent positioning sees his 21st cash win during the World Series tournament.

It was in 1981 that green was pipped from first position in the main WSOP event, by the late Stu Unger. This second place finish saw him take home a comfortable $150,000. However this week Green was knocked out of the competition by Erik Seidel (who has won the WSOP bracelet 8 times previously).

While it may seem like this should have happened a long time ago, the gambling authority of Nevada is getting involved in the US online gambling debate.  Namely they do not want traditional Las Vegas casinos to launch online gambling sites of their own, at least not until it is completely legalized under Federal Law.

The Nevada Gaming Control Board released this announcement as a warning upon learning that some Las Vegas casinos may have already gone into negotiations with online casino operators so that they are poised to launch their product as soon as the regulation clears Congress.

The NGBC may be looking to make this happen, however, since they announced that the state of Nevada posted $8.1 million in winnings for April 2010, which is 5.7% lower than the same month from the previous year. Similarly, tax collection from the winnings dropped 23.4% from May of 2009 to May of 2010 to $39.7 million.  These changes may be what is prompting this legalization to move forward as swiftly as the Nevada Gaming Control Board can possibly move.

Although there has been much hype concerning the influence that movement of free agents like LeBron James has on a basketball championship, bookmakers and player’s alike would probably agree that the current championship match up of Celtics vs Lakers will be the result of team play.  If internet gambling trends are indication, this may be the new thing to watch.
